Current situation and measures of Nittsu Consolidation Service
on Hanjin receivership application #1
Dear Valued customer,
Thank you for your business utilizing NE Consolidation Service.
We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience caused as a result of Hanjin’s application for receivership in Korea on Aug. 31, 2016. Delays in our consolidation service are to be expected due to this ongoing situation.
As of Sept. 6, 2016, we are taking the below action to minimize the impact on our consolidation service. We appreciate your understanding and cooperation.
1. Export consolidation service
A. Ongoing intermodal cargo by rail
Regarding the export consolidation cargo moving from inland CFS and being loaded into Hanjin
containers by rail, the HANJIN containers will be picked up after the arrival at LA terminal
and transloaded to the other SSL’s container at LAX CFS.
Please note that we are experiencing delays in the retrieval of containers from the railyards
as of Sep. 6, 2016.
B. Cargo holding at LAX port terminal
Regarding the export consolidation cargo loaded into Hanjin containers which are currently on
hold at LAX port terminal, we will pay the release fees according to the charge by terminal and
pick up the container after receiving release permission.
As of Sept. 6, 2016, the containers are still on hold for release.
C. Cargo already loaded into the vessel
Regarding the export consolidation cargo that was already loaded into the vessel, we will take
appropriate action at the port of discharge.
2. Import cross-dock consolidation service
A. Cargo on vessels that have not yet arrived at the port
Regarding the import consolidation cargo loaded into Hanjin containers and currently on
the vessel to LAX port, we will pick up the container after the vessel arrival and receiving
release permission, sort the shipments and transfer them to the inland CFS around US.
B. Cargo holding at LA port terminal
Regarding the import consolidation cargo loaded into Hanjin containers, that were already
unloaded from the vessel and are currently on hold within the terminal, we will pay the fees
according to the charge by the terminal. We will pick up the container after receiving release
We have been contacting the terminal to pick up the container since Aug. 31, 2016, however
the container releases are still on hold, as of Sep. 6, 2016.
C. Cargo currently moving by rail
Regarding the import consolidation cargo that were already unloaded from the vessel and are
moving by rail, we will pay the fees according to the charge by rail company at the destination
CY. As soon as we receive release permission for the container, we will pick it up and transfer
to the destination CFS.
3. Expected time of the recovery
It is uncertain, as of Sep. 6, 2016
4. Extra charges
Terminals and rail companies are charging us the release fees for Hanjin containers.
Additional charges that will arise for the container release will be billed to the customer’s account.
